INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF CREATIVITY IN MUSIC EDUCATION VOL.11

INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF CREATIVITY IN MUSIC EDUCATION VOL.11

Vol. 11 of the “International Journal of Creativity in Music Education” has recently been published, with the electronic version available since September 2024. The special issue focuses on “Creative Music Making and Improvisation,” highlighting the importance of improvisation in a wide variety of musical traditions around the world. The issue explores ‘improvisation’ from several perspectives, a concept which is often overlooked in everyday music lessons.
The Institute of Creativity in Music Education publishes this journal annually and organizes online research presentations every two months. Additionally, the institute holds face-to-face workshops once or twice a year. The photograph shown on first page of this journal is from a workshop in the summer of 2023, which was well-received, featuring Japanese researchers and musicians from Africa, who participated in improvisational activities.
To date, the journal has reached over 5,000 readers in more than 60 countries. We hope that with the publication of this volume, our readership will continue to grow.
The interest we have received is testimony to the growing importance of creativity in music education as a crucial component of music class lessons.
